Donated blood today

That brings it up to 4.5 American gallons (~3.75 UK gallons). I've been deferred twice in the past 3 weeks, but I finally managed to get my iron levels up high enough. Must have been the maple and brown sugar Cream of Wheat. Can you tell the clip art was free?

I'm behind on my donations since becoming unemployed: I've almost always given at the office, and, while I could still go back and do that (and I have their blood-drive schedule), I rather feel like going and finding the Director of Research, making him donate a few extra units, and seeing if that takes that stupid Jehovah's-Witness-like smile off his face.

Um.
No, I wouldn't do that.

Anyway, I haven't kept track of a lifetime gallon count, but I reckon I'm somewhere over 10, maybe around 12 gallons, U.S. Which would be almost 50 litres, wow.

I love the animated gif... though it rather looks like something out of one of those horror movies, where the evil doctor exsanguinates his victims.

Barry - Nice new photo! Although I did like the one with the beer...

The only reason I keep track is because...well, I don't. BloodSource does. I get a little piece of paper which documents my blood pressure and number of times I've donated. I mean doanted. My blood pressure is slowly going up over the years, by the way. Luckily it started out really, really low.

I WISH I was up around 10 or 12. It's only taken me about 10 years to get to 4.5 gallons. Congrats!

Lesley - Blud Doantion is SO important. I think they generally require a person have a butt, though.

Bill pointed out that not only is the person on the table in the process of exsanguination, but apparently she(?) is also an amputee. Sometimes life is just not fair.

DAMMIT. Stoopid butt foiling me again.

OMG that person is an amputee!!! I think it must have happened in the accident where the semi TOTALLY FLATTENED him/her. Sad.

I just think she/he/it's just an amazing person because he/she/it willingly doantes blood AFTER being run over and completely flattened by a semi. Amazing.

Unless Barry's right, and some mad scientist is draining her blood for some nefarious purpose. Which would just totally suck after being run over by a semi and losing an arm.

I organize the Minnesota Atheists blood drives and I always make sure to eat a giant slab of prime rib the night before a donation. :)
