Er.....
OK, smoky California. This is not a sunset photo. We've been able to look directly at the sun most of the afternoon. Most of the hundreds of fires were started by a huge mostly dry lightning storm on June 21, and the predictions are that they will all be fully contained by the end of ..... August.
At least I don't have to worry about sunburn so much this summer. Lung cancer, on the other hand...

You still need to be careful about sunburn. The strongest rays still come through the clouds and people do still burn because they think they're okay.

Chaplain - believe me, with my English/Scottish complexion, I buy moisturizer with sunblock and wear it every day - rain, smoke, or shine...
Where is your house in relation to the fires? The national news makes it seem like the entire state is in flames.
The nearest ones are about 50 miles away, but most of the smoke we're getting is coming from the ones about 10 or 15 miles from where William is going to school - about 100 miles from here. We are getting the occasional respite depending on the wind, but he has had thick smoke for about 3 weeks straight.
